What is Record Store Day?
Record Store Day or RSD started in 2007 by Independent Record Store owners and employees to celebrate the unique scene in record stores and to showcase the role of how these stores impact the entirety of music.
Record Store Day is this awesome yearly bash where thousands of vinyl junkies and over thousands of indie record shops worldwide get together to celebrate all things spinning and groovy! RSDâs goal is to celebrate and support Indie Record Stores and propagate the culture of analog media through various ways. For instance, they offer Exclusive Releases, host Live Performances, and organize gatherings in participating Indie Stores. RSD amplifies the right spot for records through nostalgia, aesthetics, culture, Sound Quality and diversity of artists to listen to! In fact there are different kinds of releases
This year, RSD 2025 is hitting on April 12, 2025, and all the cool indie record shops joining in are ready to party! As part of this annual tradition, a Record Store Day ambassador leads the charge, and this time itâs Post Malone stepping up to champion vinyl culture and independent music retailers.

How Ted Ellis Celebrates RSD
Ted Ellis have been participating in RSD for a few years now and consistently been active and up-to-date with the latest news and releases giving Filipino vinyl enthusiast a chance to grab their desired albums from the exclusive releases through pre-orders and in-store .
As an RSD-pledged store, we keep it old-school by making our exclusive goodies stay in-store only until the event wraps. Consequently, no online sales will be available beforehand. Gotta swing by the store to snag those vinyl gems first!
For this yearâs Record Store Day in 2025, we will have 2 days to celebrate it. Part 1 will be on April 12, with a massive restock of popular titles as well as surprise release of highly sought after albums! Record Store Day Release Categories
When it comes to Record Store Day releases, they are usually split into three categories so vinyl fans can easily figure out what theyâre chasing!
RSD Exclusive
These are the classic holy grails, records dropped only on RSD day at indie shops. Weâre talking rare live recordings, special editions, or those slick colored vinyls you canât snag anywhere else and will never be pressed again.
RSD First
The "First" in RSD First means these titles are offered to fans as a priority during the event, often in limited quantities, before they may (or may not) get a wider release later on. They typically include unique content like live recordings, unreleased demos, special editions, or rare tracks from popular artists, making them coveted by collectors and music fans. For example, you might find a live performance vinyl from a band or a remastered demo pressing thatâs not available elsewhere at the time.
Small Run/Regional Titles
These are super limited drops often under 1,000 copies or tied to specific spots. Similar to RSD Exclusive except that these are usually specific to a certain geographic area. Making them even more elusive depending on where you are!

Personal Thoughts and My Top Picks
Since I am quite new to the record store culture I am really excited to experience Record Store Day head on this April. Iâm very excited to meet new people with a tremendous love for music. RSD is a great way to introduce the scene to a much wider audience who have yet to discover the beauty of vinyl records.
